Alex,
Please see response below from Mark Risson, Katherine Hospital Pathology Dept.
".....Here's the details for the machine Alex needs:
Hb201 Analyser - item no.121717 - $520.13
Hb201 microcuvettes (box of 200) - item no. 111708 - $224.48
These are to be purchased from Hemocue Australia - ph. 02 4384 6855
(Territory Surgical Supplies does also offer the instrument, but on a >20%
markup of Hemocue's price, so
it's fine to purchase interstate.)
cheers,
Mark".......
Hope this helps

Subject: [CARPA] Phaseout of hemocue machines
G'day All,
have received the letter embedded here (I hope) via Medtek in Alice Springs,
hemocues will no longer be serviced after 1/1/08, and cuvettes will become less
available and more expensive, they are offering a half-price machine upgrade
$500 odd .
I went to the website, and wasn't sure which variant of the new machines would
actually be the most appropriate for our use.
Has anyone looked into this already? If so what conclusion have they come to?

Second Edition
Dear HemoCue Hemoglobin Classic User
HEMOCUE HEMOGLOBIN ANALYSER UPGRADE OFFER
Due to changes by our parent company, HemoCue AB, Sweden, the HemoCue B-Hb
Classic model analyser is quickly reaching its retirement age.
>From 1st January, 2008 this model will no longer be able to be serviced,
although cuvettes will still be supplied for a few more years. The price of
cuvettes for the Classic model will steadily increase as the volumes produced
decrease.
We appreciate that there are still a number of Classic models in service
throughout the country and for that reason we would like to make you a special
offer to upgrade to the Hb201 analyser. The Hb201 is much smaller and has a
number of extra features that the Classic model does not have. Please take a
look on our website www.hemocue.com
The special trade-in offer, per Hb201 analyser, is $520.13 excluding GST (half
price). To qualify for this special offer, the trade-in must be organized before
30/06/2007 and the original classic instrument must be returned to us.
Please respond to this offer as soon as possible as stocks are currently limited
and we will work on a first come first served basis.
We should point out that the cuvettes for the classic model do not fit the 201
model, so we advise you to use up your existing cuvettes, if you choose to take
up the offer.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us on the
phone number below.
Kind Regards,
Lyn Hatherly
