Yes, we have only recommended prophylaxis for known RHD. The gonno seems
to spike with the larger numbers of people moving about. I've not heard
of it resulting from the actual business. Perhaps it would be good to
talk with Ushma Scales and Scrim and Karmananda

We previously did recommend prophylaxis for endocarditis but only in
those with known rheumatic valve disease undergoing circumcision -
this
was in past ABG also - in current ABG 13  - page 176 - such a
procedure
is considered "low risk" if truly sterile etc However I would still
recommend prophylaxis in the NT context
Clindamyclin 15mg/kg up to 600mg orally 1 hour prior.

Hello CARPA people
I have had an enquiry about antibiotic prophylaxis prior to men's
ceremonial business.
Previous discussion had recommended no prophylaxis, and this may be
appropriate.
Perhaps it should be included in guidelines.
The infections that I've heard arise from this procedures are not skin
infections but gonorrhoea.
What are others' experiences?
