hmmmmm
i am bit confused by her attack on "incompetent health services" with no
machines etc
i am assuming she was visiting outstations that access a local community for
their health care?
she is certainly on track with Minister Mal Brough's views, and may have been
one of the people proposing them
she does appear to be selective in how she is interpreting data, saying
"advantaged, assimilated" urban people are "hiding" the true picture in remote
given that NT data is most reliable and 70% of NT ATSI population live remote,
then in fact the statistics are correct and not hiding anything
also interesting that State governments obviously to blame for everyhting
ignores AG responsibility for funding primary care through GP's, lack of GP's,
lack of equivalent investment etc
its certainly interesting how people can develop very diffeent views of the same
picture
its good that people recognise the complete lack of facilities that many remote
people have struggled with for so long although the response seems to be a bit
reactive

There was an interesting interview with the economist Helen Hughes (new
book "Lands of Shame" www.cis.org.au/exechigh/Eh2007/EH46807.html) and
David Scrimgeour on ABC RN's Counterpoint program on the wireless this week:

Helen would appear to be one of Mal Brough's gurus...
Anyway it's good to step back and look at the situation we work in
through another's eyes..
