[CARPA] Poster: How to Get Renal Bloods Right Every Time!

Alex,
I have repeatedly tried to obtain a guideline of blood testing for
people with renal ds, set according to GFR and the like. The renal
team have previously given support to the notion of providing
something but that has never materialised.
I had cause to raise this recently with the advent of the IMOK
project. I'm not sure if this is operating in CA but essentially it
looks to provide dedicated nursing input to case manage people with
renal function b/w 15-30mls/min. This Mx includes case conferencing
with nephrologists on an individual basis. I gather there is some
resource going to AMS' to do this and in DHF it is the PH nurses who
are doing the actual case managing.
I have asked that there be some standardization of blood testing
according to grades of CKD that would guide RANs, MOs and the case
managers. Again, I have been placated with agreement but not seen
anything.
I would be very interested to see anything you could come up with
that has the support of the nephrologists.
Cheers,
G
